Samuel R. Messner, freelance Japanese translator.
A passionate, meticulous, and communicative translator of video games and manga. I primarily work with Japanese to English translation, and also have experience with and accept Japanese to Swedish projects.
With industry experience and a strong foundation in years of volunteer translation, I have a beyond-native grasp on the English and Swedish languages, and experience translating both colloquial and literary Japanese. I exercise dynamic equivalence for a result that’s both natural and accurate, and am adept in more formally equivalent translation where necessary. Particularly, I pride myself on my ability to convey textual nuances and differentiate character voices. Communication is something I value highly – in team settings, I communicate often and well, and I excel in both public speaking and writing. My many years of experience as a software developer also gives me unique insight into the technical limitations of a localization!
Is your company in need of a translator who will give you a result that’s accurate, natural, and easy to work with for editors, letterers, and programmers? Look no further! Contact me at:
